A Marygrove retractable awning transforms your outdoor space into a productive, shaded workspace—without the high cost or hassle of renovations. While building a home office can cost $10,000–$25,000+, a Marygrove awning offers:

✅ Lower upfront cost with special financing options

✅ No construction or permits—quick, professional in-home installation

✅ Dual-purpose value—your workspace becomes a relaxing retreat after hours

✅ Curb appeal that boosts resale value

It’s a flexible, lifestyle-enhancing way to work from home—minus the drywall dust.

Great question! While the exact temperature difference can vary depending on sun intensity and surface materials, Marygrove retractable awnings can lower the temperature underneath by up to 20°F or more compared to direct sunlight.

Yes, you can work under a Marygrove awning in light rain.

The fabric is water-resistant and sheds rain effectively when the pitch is adjusted properly. For rain, roll the awning out halfway and lower the pitch on one side to allow water to run off. Always level it back out before retracting to avoid mechanical issues.

Avoid using the awning during heavy rain or storms, as water pooling can damage the frame. If you have a wind sensor, it adds protection by retracting the awning in high winds.

For light rain or drizzly days, it’s a great covered workspace. To explore setup options, book a free consultation here: marygrove.com/make-an-appointment

You can work under a Marygrove awning during much of the year, but it’s not designed for continuous year-round use in all weather.

It provides great protection from sun and light rain in spring, summer, and fall. During winter, the awning should remain retracted to avoid damage from snow, ice, or high winds.

Front and side screens can help block wind and extend use into cooler months. Built-in LED lighting also makes early morning or evening work more comfortable. For ideas on how to use the awning year round check out our four seasons page.

Yes, you can absolutely work at night under a Marygrove awning.

Each awning includes built-in LED lighting with adjustable brightness, controlled by remote or the Marygrove Smart App. The lighting creates a comfortable, well-lit environment for evening work, whether you’re on a laptop or video call.

For added privacy or wind protection at night, optional front and side screens can be used. Many customers use this setup for extended hours outdoors—even after sunset.

Marygrove awnings offer several privacy-enhancing features to help create a more secluded, comfortable outdoor space:
  1. Front Screen – Attaches to the front bar and rolls down up to 5 feet to block low-angle sun and add a visual barrier from neighbors or passersby.
  2. Side Screens – Extend 4 to 5 feet outward from either side of the awning, helping shield your space from side views and reduce wind.
  3. Quiet Motor & Remote Operation – Lets you adjust your awning or screen discreetly without noise or disruption.
  4. Smart Control via Marygrove Pro App – Use your phone to adjust your awning or lighting for added privacy in real time.
These features help turn your deck or patio into a peaceful, semi-enclosed retreat—perfect for focused work, quiet reading, or private conversations.

If you’re working under a Marygrove awning and the sun shifts, you can easily stay comfortable by adjusting the pitch of the awning.

Here’s how:

Roll the awning out halfway to reduce strain on the arms.

Insert the crank pole into the loop at the base of the awning arm (not the black motor loop).

Turn the loop clockwise to tilt that side of the awning downward and block the changing sun angle.

You can adjust one or both sides depending on where the sun is hitting.

When you’re done, level the awning back out before retracting to ensure smooth operation.

This feature gives you the flexibility to stay shaded and productive all day—no matter where the sun moves.
